The Best Cookies
(recipe sized for a KitchenAid mixer - fractionalize at
will)
3 sticks real margarine
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup sugar
1 TBSP pure vanilla extract
3 eggs
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup oatmeal (whole flakes or pulverized)
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 or 2 packages chocolate chips (12 oz. each)
2 cups chopped nuts (optional)
Cream margarine, brown sugar, sugar, vanilla until fluffy. Beat in eggs.
Mix in whole wheat flour and oatmeal. Mix in 2 cups regular flour, salt,
and baking soda. Mix in 1 more cup regular flour. Add chocolate chips, and
chopped nuts (if desired). Chill (if you can wait that long). Form tablespoons
of the stuff into compacted balls, bake 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie
sheet at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Cool on rack (if you can wait that
long). Dough stores well in fridge for up to 2 weeks; freezes well, too
(if you can wait that long). This recipe is mine - mostly original - and
has won many ribbons and contests. Enjoy!!!
