The cathedral at Rock of Cashel was built in the 13th century.
In 1647,
Cromwellian Lord Inchiquin attacked the town, and townspeople
sought refuge within the cathedral. Soldiers piled turf against
the
outer walls and lit it on fire, killing hundreds inside.
