| On June 6, 1997,
while working on the computer at Mike's house at around 2:15
pm, I heard the storm warning sirens go off. I went downstairs
to take the dogs to the basement. Through the kitchen window,
I glanced up and saw a diagonal black stripe in the western sky.
I grabbed the video camera, and from the deck in Mike's backyard,
caught the tail end of the tornado on film, just as it left the
ground and drew back up into the clouds. I learned the next day
that the tornado had hit a friend's house and caused a good amount
of damage, but thankfully, nobody was injured. Check out the
still photo or the quicktime movie Mike made of the footage of
this storm by clicking on the thumbnails below. |
