Butterfly Spring Geyser is located in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone across the boardwald from Infant Geyser. Butterfly Spring appeared in the spring of 2003 and had its last major eruption (as of Jan 2004) on May 31, 2003. It still has minor eruptions a few feet tall every few minutes. Butterfly erupted dark water and rocks which indicated it was eroding its plumbing system.
